Apply through myPTPTN only after confirming that both your institution and exact course are registered for PTPTN funding. Prepare your admission details, personal bank account and eligible Simpan SSPN account before starting.

1. Check whether you qualify

PTPTN currently states that an applicant must be a Malaysian citizen, be no more than 45 years old on the application date, and have at least one semester remaining. The applicant must have an offer from an eligible Malaysian public institution, private institution or polytechnic, and the exact course must be approved and registered with PTPTN.

The gross monthly income of the applicant's parents or guardians must not exceed RM50,000 after deducting RM250 for each dependant. An applicant must also have an eligible Simpan SSPN Prime or Simpan SSPN Plus account. For Simpan SSPN Prime, PTPTN specifies a 15-digit account number.

CitizenshipMalaysian
Age limit45 or younger
Course remainingAt least 1 semester
Income ceilingRM50,000 after dependant deductions

2. Prepare before applying

Have these details ready before opening the application:

  • MyKad and current contact details
  • Official admission or offer letter
  • Institution, programme and intake information exactly as shown in your offer
  • Your own active bank account details
  • Parents' or guardians' gross income and dependant information
  • Your eligible Simpan SSPN account number

Check your institution's PTPTN application window. Applying late can mean that the loan begins from a later semester: PTPTN says an application made in Semester 2 is approved from Semester 2, not retrospectively from Semester 1.

Save the official page or written information you relied on, together with the date you checked it.

3. Apply through myPTPTN

  1. Create or sign in to myPTPTN. Use your own identity and contact information.
  2. Choose the education-loan application. Select the correct institution, course, level and intake.
  3. Enter income information carefully. Use gross income and declare dependants accurately.
  4. Confirm your bank and SSPN details. The bank account must belong to the student because PTPTN credits disbursements directly to the student's personal account.
  5. Review every field. Make sure names, identification numbers and course details match supporting records.
  6. Submit and save proof. Keep the confirmation page or reference number and monitor the result in myPTPTN.

4. Accept the offer correctly

If approved, act promptly. PTPTN states that the loan offer is valid for 14 days from the approval date. Follow the current instructions in myPTPTN for printing or completing the agreement, revenue stamping and submission.

The completed agreement and a copy of the admission letter must be submitted through the stated channel within the validity period. Do not assume approval alone completes the process.

Important deadline

Missing the 14-day offer-validity window can delay or invalidate the offer. Follow the date shown in your own approval documents.

5. Understand the first payment

PTPTN says the first disbursement is processed after it receives the complete agreement documents. Its published FAQ states that funds are credited within 21 working days after receipt of a complete set of documents.

Later semester payments depend on remaining active in the approved institution, programme and level, and normally obtaining a GPA of at least 2.0 in the previous semester. The amount entering your account may differ from the headline award because applicable items such as takaful protection and redeemed WPP may be taken into account.
